There are two main reasons why you need to set the baud rate for serial communication:

Synchronous communication: In serial communication, the sender and receiver need to be synchronized to ensure correct transmission of data. If the baud rates of the sender and receiver are inconsistent, the communication clocks will be out of sync, causing data transmission errors. By setting the same baud rate, you can ensure that data is transmitted at the same rate and achieve synchronous communication.

Transmission rate control: The baud rate determines the number of bits transmitted per second, which is the rate of data transmission. In actual communications, factors such as device processing capabilities and noise interference may limit the actual maximum transmission rate. By setting an appropriate baud rate, you can ensure that both communicating parties can communicate efficiently while being able to process data stably and avoid data loss or errors.

In general, the baud rate plays an important role in coordinating the communication speed of both parties, ensuring synchronization, and preventing data errors in serial communication. Therefore, when performing serial communication, the same baud rate must be set between devices to ensure stable and reliable data transmission.
